Holiday Spirit: Kids Help Raise Money for Homeless Kids

With the holiday season around the corner, New York City is a place of joyous celebration, great music, and of course, the spirit of giving. This year, The YOUTH ARTS FORUM OF GREENWICH VILLAGE has developed the first ever KIDS HELPING KIDS concert series, where young artists from across the country gather in New York to raise money in an effort to help feed homeless children during the holidays.

The concerts, headlined by young Red Bank, New Jersey band, SIX VOLT, will take place on DECEMBER 19TH at The East 13th Street Theatre at 1:30PM and 6:30PM. Joining Six Volt are other young artists from California, Illinois, Virginia and many more states across the nation.  Tickets can be purchased at http://www.theatermania.com/content/show.cfm/show/161885 or by calling 212-352-3101 and 1-866-811-4111. All proceeds from the concerts will be donated to the Food Bank for New York to feed homeless kids in the greater metropolitan area.

SIX VOLT, respected as a young band that plays all their music themselves, without any professional backup musicians, includes members Brittany Guben (14) of East Brunswick, Granger Whitelaw, Jr. (13) of Red Bank, Joe Cilento (15) of Ocean, Ben Ley (14)  of Rumson, and Jake Wood (16) of Wall. SIX VOLT is about to release its first album with a Spring & Summer 2010 tour to follow. The band’s fresh sound and talent has earned them high esteem in the Tri-State area and their audience is quickly expanding. In addition, their charitable ways (the band has always donated 5% of all their earnings to charity) are proof of Six Volt’s strong foundation and even stronger potential for success in the future.

New York City is very excited for this concert series, which is sure to become a holiday tradition for years to come! Kate Hindin, Business Partnership Manager of the Food Bank For New York, explains, “This is what the holidays are all about and we would love to work with Youth Arts Forum. We hope to make the “Kids Helping Kids” Concert a regular part of our annual Holiday schedule.  The response from youth bands from across the country has been astounding, and we look forward to a very successful event to help our local homeless children.”  Barry Salottolo, the Founder of the Youth Arts Forum, adds, “The type of “giving” by these youngsters is really what this organization works to highlight and support.
