Lindsay Lohan poses in Controversial Cover
Apparently freedom of speech or expression isn’t highly valued by all types of people. Recently LINDSAY LOHAN has come under fire for appearing on the cover of Purple, a french fashion magazine. The most recent issue features the photo to the left, shot by TERRY RICHARDSON. Over the top? Possibly. And yet there isn’t really any denying the message that the photo comes across.
Love her or hate her, LINDSAY LOHAN has had a tumultuous last couple of the years. Whether calling attention with on-again off-again girlfriend SAMANTHA RONSON, drug use, questionable weight loss, erratic behavior, vag shots— or god only knows what else— the pop icon has been through the ring.
Martyr. Bold statement? Absolutely. But what art isn’t a bold statement?
Christians are up in arms over the photo including Bill Donohue (head of the Catholic League). Not only is the image offensive according to Donohue, but recent tweets possibly suggesting LOHAN’s belief in hinduism (isn’t it all speculation— it is the internet) caused further comments by the Catholic League head saying that she would “benefit by converting to Christianity.” Because LOHAN’s belief in karma is obviously the most pressing thing in the world. So is art that is “questionable.”
